Dr. Carole Repensek, Riviera Preparatory Schools’ director of academic advancement, was awarded the Richard and Dorothy Lear Distinguished Educators Award at the Association of Independent Schools of Florida’s (AISF) annual Teaching & School Leadership Conference.

The award is bestowed upon a person who has shown by record of extraordinary leadership that he or she has achieved special distinction in the development of educational opportunities for the benefit of the children of Florida and the nation.

The award, named for the founders of the Lear School of Miami, recognized this year the distinguished career of Dr. Repensek who began her teaching career in a private school in New Jersey teaching students with dyslexia. She immediately developed a passion for teaching reading to students with reading differences and embarked on a lifelong journey, leading her to earning both her MS in Special Education and a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership.

She has held top administration posts at various schools in the Miami area prior to her appointment at Riviera Preparatory School.
