St. Louis Catholic schedules annual Festival for the Poor

St. Louis Catholic Community in Pinecrest will be hosting its annual Festival for the Poor, Mar. 11-13. Festival hours on Friday, Mar. 11, are 4-10 p.m.; Saturday, Mar. 12, 10 a.m.-10 p.m., and Sunday, Mar. 13, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. The arts and craft vendors will be open for business at 8 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

This three-day event is now in its 40th year and has raised more than $1.9 million. All of the profits from the event are given to agencies throughout the Miami-Dade community that feed, clothe, counsel and house those in need in our community. Parishioners and friends have worked thousands of hours on organizing and planning the event.

The festival includes rides, game booths, international food booths, raffles, dinners, auctions, live entertainment, a 5K walk/run and arts and craft vendors. Ride bracelets for unlimited rides are available for sale.

The 5K race will take place on Saturday, Mar. 5. This is a beautiful run/walk through through Pinecrest and is a certified race with medals, trophies, snacks, beverages and T-shirts for all participants. The race begins and ends at the church, 7270 SW 120 St. Day of race registrations are at 6:30 a.m. with race start at 8 a.m.
