Town’s second annual ‘Splash in the Bay’ a cool event

The Town of Cutler Bay had its second annual “Splash in the Bay” pool party for residents at Cutler Ridge Pool on Saturday, July 30, drawing more than 200 participants looking to cool down in the summer heat.

The free event had residents swimming in the pool; engaging in water games; sliding down a waterslide; feasting on hamburgers, hotdogs, and soda, and dancing to the musical stylings of resident favorite DJ Ivan.

Attending the event were Vice Mayor Ernest Sochin, Councilmember Sue Ellen Loyzelle and town manger Rafael Casals.

Councilmember Loyzelle said she was excited and happy with the way the event turned out.

“So many people approached me to say that they really appreciate all of the events the town has to offer,” Loyselle said. “The kids had a blast diving, playing freeze dance with DJ Ivan, and hula-hooping. I even tried to hula hoop myself. “Families really enjoyed spending time together in the pool, eating delicious food and meeting their neighbors. Thank you to everyone who came out and joined in on the fun,” she added.
