Authors to discuss their craft at May 4 event in Homestead

LAMPLIGHTERS
[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Lamplighters, a group composed of local authors who have been meeting for more than 12 years, will discuss their experiences in becoming published on May 4, noon, at the Woman’s Club of Homestead clubhouse, 17905 SW 292 St.

The writers will discuss their recent works and answer questions about the various aspects and challenges of becoming a published author, which several of the writers are. This is an opportunity to become familiar with some of the local authors and their works, and learn how to become published.

Originally known as the Loose Feathers, the group was renamed Lamplighters by Miguel Perez, one of its organizers who died tragically of cancer at a young age.

A simple lunch will be available for $10 beginning at 11:30 a.m. by reservation only. Call Barbara at 305-230-9185 before 2 pm on Friday, May 1, or bring your own lunch.

Handicapped parking available.

The presentation, open to the public free of charge, is presented by the Homestead Center for the Arts.

The series — named for the late Bea Peskoe who was an advocate for social justice, education and culture — is presented with the support of the Miami- Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, the Cultural Affairs Council, the Mayor and the Miami- Dade Board of County Commissioners.
