Application deadline is January 15, 2011 for all magnet program.
MAST @ Homestead has begun the application process for the 2011-2012 school year. Starting October 1, 2010 to January 15, 2011 applications will be accepted for incoming 9th and 10th graders. Interested parents and students can apply online at www.dadeschools.net under the magnet program application portal. You can not submit both an online and hardcopy application, any duplicated or revised applications will not be accepted.
There will be three information sessions where students and parents can meet with school staff and get more information on the three academies that are offered at MAST @ Homestead. The three academies are pharmaceutical, physical therapy, and biomedical sciences. Students can only apply to one academy. Currently, MAST @ Homestead is temporarily at Gateway Environmental (K-8) School.
School officials expect to begin renovations and construction at the school’s permanent location, the old Homestead Hospital building by the beginning of next year. The school’s construction should be completed by August 2011 ready for the next school year. School officials will be holding recruitment meetings for interested applicants on November 4 and December 7 at 6 PM at Gateway’s school cafeteria. Gateway Environmental (K-8) School is located at 955 S.E. 18th Avenue, Homestead, FL 33035.
There will also be a weekend session on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at Robert Morgan Education Center’s courtyard from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The school is located at 18180 S.W. 122 Avenue Miami, FL.
The decision process is by lottery and parents will be notified of random selection results by March 15, 2010. Please contact the school at 305-257-4500 for additional information.
