2012 Budget

Commissioner Souto voted in favor of adopting the Miami-Dade County FY 2012-13 Budget on Thursday, September 20, 2012. The FY 2012-13 Adopted Budget further reduces the tax rates by a combined two percent, to offset the growth in property values. This Adopted Budget includes $4.3 million less in property tax revenue than the FY 2011-12 Adopted Budget, and saves taxpayers more than $405 million over two years. This Budget will maintain the same levels of service and avoids further employee layoffs. It maintains the same level of services for our police, parks, public works, and other municipal services. We are improving the level of service for median mowing on main county streets by 3 additional mowing cycles per year during the rain season. I was also able to restore the Raices Program a Hispanic Cultural Program that has operated out of Miller Drive Park for two decades to teach children music, dance, art and culture.
