On Apr. 4, 2012, the former Florida Marlins of Major League Baseball played their first official game under their new name — the Miami Marlins. However, unknown to many, the original Miami Marlins played in the city more than 50 years earlier. As part of the AAA International League, the 1956 Marlins helped set the stage for major league baseball’s entry into South Florida.

The Forgotten Marlins brings to life one of the most flamboyant teams to grace the baseball diamond, with a cast of unforgettable, battle-hardened veterans including Hall-of-Famer Satchel Paige. The book includes rarely told stories from surviving players and personnel, including the original batboy.
