Rosa Madruga has been named director of operations for the Miami-Dade County Youth Fair and Exposition. In her new position she will oversee all operations, maintenance, preventive maintenance, repair, warehousing and capital projects for the Youth Fair and Expo Center events. Madruga brings 10 years of experience with the Youth Fair into her new position, most recently as facilities coordinator.

In addition to the 18-day Youth Fair, the nonprofit organization hosts 70 Expo events at the Youth Fair’s facilities from mid-April through mid-February. The events, shows and festivals bring an additional 300,000 guests to the fairgrounds over the 10-month period.

The Youth Fair awards more than $300,000 annually in college scholarships, cash premiums and awards to local public, private, charter and home school students. To date, the Youth Fair has awarded more than $10 million to Miami-Dade students to help them achieve higher education. This year, $90,000 in college scholarships were awarded, including $7,000 to Miami-Dade County Public School winners of the inaugural Elie Wiesel Foundation Prize in Ethics Essay Contest.

The Youth Fair is the only venue where students can showcase their educational, art and science achievements all in one place and be rewarded for their efforts. More than 40,000 student projects are exhibited annually to more than half a million families, friends and fairgoers.
