G. Holmes Braddock High School celebrates 25 years of history
Class of 1992 president Angela Guerrero-Fuste; husband, Octavio Fuste, and children are greeted by Braddock Bulldogs mascot.

From a souvenir of space to the presence of its honored namesake, G. Holmes Braddock High School — now with 3,441 students enrolled — marked its 25-year history with a three-hour anniversary celebration on Mar. 10 at the “Bulldogs” home, 3601 SW 147 Ave.

The renowned former Miami-Dade School Board chair and educator addressed hundreds of students, faculty members and alumni as a twitter wall captured the event live for those unable to attend while creating a documentary of the occasion.

One event highlight was a presentation to school principal Manuel Garcia of a heat tile from the 1984 Challenger space shuttle, the original school mascot before being replaced by the Braddock Bulldog.

Alumni Association president Jose Otero honored faculty members who served 25 years with a commemorative plaque and unveiled portraits of five past principals as blue and white-clad cheerleaders, dancers and Braddock’s marching band provided a kaleidoscope of music and color.
