Coral Gables Hospital has promoted Jessica Miller-Hijar to chief nursing officer. She will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the daily operations of the hospital’s various nursing units.

Prior to this position, Miller-Hijar served as the hospital’s assistant chief nursing officer.

“Jessica has proven herself as an outstanding leader during her tenure at Coral Gables Hospital,” said Patrick Downes, hospital CEO. “We are confident that this new opportunity will result in continued success for both her and our nursing departments.”

During her 10 years of dedication to Coral Gables Hospital, Miller-Hijar has led the quality, risk management, infection control and wound care departments. She also was responsible for overseeing numerous surveys from government and regulatory agencies, and has played a key role in four of the hospital’s Top Performer in Key Quality Metrics recognitions from The Joint Commission. In 2015, Miller-Hijar was recognized as a Tenet Hero.

She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Florida International University, where she currently is working toward her Master of Business Administration. Miller-Hijar is bilingual in English and Spanish.
