Hammocks officers’ efforts prevent attempt at suicide

Hammocks officers’ efforts prevent attempt at suicideCourage plus teamwork earned Officer of the Month citations for three Miami-Dade Police Hammocks District officers who prevented a potential suicide by a razor-threatening male on June 6. Called to a family home, the officers used crisis intervention training to prevent an individual from self-harm beyond that already inflicted. They later saw his transfer to Kendall Regional Medical Center for treatment and the expectation of full recovery from the incident. Pictured at the presentation are (l-r) Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) chair James Blough presenting awards to Officers Andres Saenz, Erik Armas and Jonathan Horovitz at the CAC Aug. 27 meeting.
