A specialist in education to prevent youth crime, Miami-Dade Police Kendall District Officer Liliana Diaz was honored for her outstanding efforts during a Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) meeting on Sept. 24.

Especially noted was her research leading to a presentation on human trafficking, initially developed in 2013 for an appearance at Southwest Miami High School. Since then, the presentation has been repeated to PTSAs, student and private citizen groups and became the cornerstone of a grant award for expanded outreach by the Miami-Dade Police Department to increase awareness of human trafficking dangers.

Officer Diaz also was commended for her assistance to the Neighborhood Resource Unit for coordination and participation in community-related activities.
