Latest Star Wars movie premiere benefits Miami Cancer Institute

Fans came out in full force on Friday, Dec. 16, 2016, to attend the Miami premier of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, benefiting the Miami Cancer Institute.

The much-anticipated sequel, sponsored by the Baptist Health Foundation and Alvarez Barbara law firm, was viewed by 250 movie-goers during a private screening at AMC Sunset Place Theater in South Miami. Some $7,000 was raised from the event.

Arguably one of the biggest films of the year, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, is an all-new epic adventure in which a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Evil Empire’s ultimate weapon of destruction. Star Wars fans were led to believe that there would never be an Episode VII and now, Disney Studios plans are underway to make a new Star Wars movie every year for the next six years.

The premier’s beneficiary, Miami Cancer Institute at Baptist Health South Florida, offers clinical services, cutting-edge technology and a research facility providing access to clinical trials and ground-breaking treatments. Designed with patient comfort and convenience in mind, the Institute, scheduled to open in January, 2017, offers diagnosis, treatment, research trials and followup care at one state-of-the-art location.
