The ride-sharing app is expanding their Hertz partnership in South Florida, allowing approved drivers an opportunity with Lyft, even if they don’t own a vehicle

Lyft, the nation’s fastest growing ride-sharing company, has announced the Florida expansion of its Express Drive program, allowing eligible Lyft drivers to rent a vehicle and start driving for Lyft.

Lyft drivers can now rent a vehicle with Hertz at three new South Florida locations: Pep Boys auto parts stores in Miami (211 NW 82 Ave.), Miami Lakes (292 NE 167 St.) and Sunrise (601 E Sunrise Blvd.). These new rental sites join one existing location inside a Hertz Rent-a-Car business located in Hialeah (16525 NW 57th Ave.).  At each of the locations, Lyft has representatives to assist its drivers with the process of renting a vehicle.

The Express Drive program provides affordable access to rental cars through a Lyft-exclusive weekly rental rate of $180 per week and the cost goes down as the driver’s rides go up. Insurance and maintenance are also included in the weekly car rental rate.

“Since launching last month in Hialeah, we’ve seen significant growth in drivers in South Florida. The demand for these rental cars has also doubled and it is still growing fast,” said Samuel Cohen, general manager of Lyft in Florida. “Even drivers who already own a car are using Express Drive because of the convenience of having access to a vehicle at potentially no out-of-pocket cost or to avoid adding more mileage to their personal vehicles.”

  1. I went to Miami for 3 times and always used rental24h service to have a car. Many friends told me, that Hertz and Sixt rely on their fame, so their service not at a high level. I was once again convinced that small companies give much more attention to each client.
