Miami Symphony Orchestra announces highlights of coming 2016-17 season

The Miami Symphony Orchestra (MISO) has announced highlights of its 28th season, 2016-17, under the baton of Maestro Eduardo Marturet in his 11th season.

Once again, Maestro Marturet will demonstrate his talent and virtuosity to delight the most select audience. The season includes seven concerts in concert halls, and five in outdoor locations with free admission.

The Grand Season Opening is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 23, 6 p.m., at the Adrienne Arsht Center’s Knight Concert Hall. The opening program will feature Maurice Ravel’s Bolero, his most famous musical piece.

Then the repertoire will feature a piano concert by the extremely talented Florencia Di Concilio, Composer in Residence with the Miami Symphony Orchestra, presenting the World Premiere of a spellbinding tango. The magical evening will end with a dazzling performance of Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade, that was inspired by the collection of largely Middle Eastern and Indian tales known as The Thousand and One Nights (or The Arabian Nights).

Other highlights of the season include MISO-CHIC, painting, sculpture and urban street art with live performance on stage, untraditional program with a twist of South Beach “Ocean Drive in Vienna;” “Sounds from Hollywood,” as well as May’s season finale “Beethovenmania,” introducing the winner of the MISO/Steinway Miami 2017 Young Pianist International Competition.

Subscriptions and single tickets, on sale at www.arshtcenter.org, start at just $72 for three concerts and $35 for single tickets. Prices, artists, dates, times and programs are subject to change without notice. For more information, visit www.themiso.org or call 305-275-5666.

  1. Don’t support this nefarious and bullying organization. They owe musicians from the past few seasons hundreds of thousands of dollars for services already rendered. They cannot keep paying fancy soloists and renting expensive venues without PAYING WHAT THEY OWE. We worked hard for them and played beautiful perfomances. We got nothing in return. We are done waiting for payment and cowtowing to your insidious lies and pandering.
