The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of East Kendall, on Mar. 15, attracted some 5,000 people to participate in the fun-filled, survivors’ celebration and relay-style walk around Baptist Hospital’s campus lake.

Baptist Health Medical Group primary care physicians provided free cholesterol screenings, and 271 cancer survivors were honored as guests. Nearly 6,000 personalized and decorated luminaries were lit to remember those lost to cancer and honor those fighting the disease. The event raised nearly $300,000 for the Society’s research, education and patient services. This was the ninth consecutive year Baptist Hospital hosted the event.

“Many thanks to our Relay committee members, volunteers, physicians, employees and their families and friends who participated in the event and worked so hard throughout the year to raise funds,” said Baptist Hospital CEO Bo Boulenger.
