The Palace Suites and The Palace Renaissance at The Palace Kendall Campus are undergoing extensive renovations of the retirement communities’ residences, illustrating The Palace Group’s commitment to residents and families.

The renovations draw inspiration from the company’s newest assisted living and memory care community in Homestead, The Palace Gardens.

“We’ve found that the newest features used in The Palace Gardens’ residences are so positive that we are implementing these improvements at the Kendall campus,” said Adam Rosenblum, vice president of marketing and sales. “We’ve incorporated many of the same features people are finding in multifamily apartments that are geared for any age, not just a senior consumer. When a family sees these new renovations, they simply are wowed.”

Residences at The Palace Suites, which offers independent living, and The Palace Renaissance, offering assisted living, are updated as they come available and include top-to-bottom improvements. Importantly, hurricane glass is installed enabling residents to stay in their apartments should there be a hurricane.

“The goal is to make the residences live large,” he said. “They are already spacious but the improvements make them more open and brighter. People who wish to spend time in their apartments during the day are still going to get a lot of natural light to stimulate their circadian rhythms.”

In The Palace Suites and Renaissance, architectural detailing includes crown molding and six panel doors as well as wood laminate flooring and new lighting fixtures.

Palace Suite kitchens incorporate many universal design features including lever sink faucets, easy-open cabinet pulls and under-cabinet lighting. They have stainless steel appliances, granite countertops and contemporary cabinetry and tile backsplashes. Kitchen pass-throughs were eliminated and replaced with kitchen counter bar areas. The bar serves as an area for entertaining or enjoying a snack.

In bathrooms, universal design features include raised vanities, easier-to-grip knobs and lever sink faucets. Granite countertops are used and cabinet storage is improved. The faucet height and outfall area as well as elongated sinks offer improved space. Vertical grab in the showers offers residents something to grab when they are turning on the shower. Residential curtain rods and towel bars are a subtle reminder of home.

In The Renaissance, the studio apartments incorporate a built-in wall unit that includes plenty of drawers and storage, a vanity or desk portion and a flat screen TV.

“We want to make it easier for someone to transition to assisted living and the studios are turnkey to make the move smoother without creating obstacles. What we find is that because the studios look much more like a hotel room or cruise ship’s stateroom, residents are very receptive to the new changes and enjoy the comfort provided,” Rosenblum explained. “We’ve blended modern and traditional design in both The Suites and Renaissance and the components that improve the quality of life for each community’s residents.”
