1,400 Marchers Slated to Honor Our Veterans

This Veterans Day, Thursday, November 11, 2010, will be filled with events paying homage to our service men and women who have bravely fought for our country, including a parade and wreath laying ceremony hosted by the American Legion Miami Beach Post 85 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3559 and a picnic hosted by Commissioner and President/CEO of the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce, Jerry Libbin.
The parade will commence at 9:00 am, when marchers will head South on Convention Center Drive before going East on 17th Street to Washington Avenue and then South to 11th Street where they will turn West before entering Flamingo Park where the wreath laying ceremony and picnic will be held. This year’s ceremony will begin at approximately 10:30 am at the Flamingo Park Oval and will feature special guest speakers including Parade Grand Marshall, Commissioner Libbin, and others soon to be announced.
“Commissioner Libbin made last year’s parade the best in its history,” said David Patlak, Vice Commander of the American Legion Miami Beach Post 85. “He recruited at least 1000 participants and reached out to schools, local organizations and the business community to support our troops during the parade.”
