Acura ILX: A sexy sedan starting at $27,990The Acura ILX sedan competes with the largest segment of the car market – 4 door sedans. It competes with Lexus IS 250, The Audi A3, The Honda Accord, and the Hyundai Sonata. The ILX comes in 5 unique packages – Standard starting at $27,990, Acura Plus (+$1,300), Premium Package (+$2,000), Technology Plus (+$1,700), and A-Spec (+$1,990). Every Acura ILX comes with the 201hp 2.4L Inline-4 8-speed Automatic that gets 25 city, 35 highway, and 29 combined MPG.

The ILX also comes with a 8 speed dual clutch transmission. That means lighting fast gear switches so you never have an awkward moment passing another car, switching lanes, or doing the usual rush hour start/stop. For the teenager in all of us, paddle shifters and a tighter adjustable suspension come standard so you can take those turns a little bit faster or more gentle when needed.

If you have to spend a lot of time in the Acura ILX up and down that US1 rush hour, you won’t be disappointed.  There are plenty of panels and instruments with improved Wi-Fi connectivity, a direction most modern cars on the market today seem to be headed: more tech to enjoy for those long family road trips to Disney World.

We reviewed the Premium A-Spec model which started at $34,980. It came with 18-inch alloy noise reducing wheels, fog lights, rear spoiler, side sills, suede seating surfaces, red instrument panels, and aluminum pedals.

Every Acura ILX comes with the Acura styled navigation system which included Voice Recognition and Real Time Traffic displayed on the 8-inch LED screen. It also serves as the center of the 10 speaker infotainment experience. Moreso the Acura sync with your iphone or Galaxy phone through the USB or Aux input in the center console.

Once nice touch was the Automatic Climate Control. Summer is kicking in and pretty soon cars hit 100 degrees in no time flat. With the Acura Automatic Climate Control the key fob, internal sensors, and GPS all work together to start cooling the car as you get close to it. Between that and the iphone app specific to the Acura – which pulls a Concierge, cloud based podcasts, and car diagnostic – we thought it was a pretty cool experience.

Other useful technologies include the suite of Publix Parking lot solutions. That includes the (BSI) Blind Spot Information and Monitoring and Cross Traffic Assistance so you can peak without getting hit. Both sensors work together to detected wild shopping carts or potential collisions with cars, bikes, or people as you reverse or peak around corners. And the rear view display camera comes in three modes depending on how close, detailed or wide you need to see. Never once did we managed to see something before the camera did or find a near collision before the system alerted us.

The Acura ILX is available now starting at $27,990.
