Ayuda Celebrates its 40th Anniversary in Improving the Lives of Underserved and At-Risk Families in South Florida

On Tuesday, October 10, 2017, Ayuda will celebrate its 40th Anniversary with a reception, fashion show, live entertainment and live auction from 7 PM – 10 PM at the North Beach Ocean Front Center, 7251 Collins Ave, Miami Beach.  Since its inception in 1977 as a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, Ayuda has provided much-needed services for over 200,000 families throughout Miami Dade County.  Programs include early childhood education, teen life skills training, family counseling, parenting skills training and elder care services.

“Our education and self-sufficiency programs include children with special needs as well as students from many diverse cultures.  We strive to give everyone a strong sense of community and inclusion”, says Diana Susi, Ayuda’s Executive Director.  “The T.A.L.L. program is my personal favorite because it provides such strong self-sufficiency skills for our teens…our future leaders.” says Board Chair, DeAnne Connolly Graham.  Teens Are Lifelong Learners is an after-school program that focuses on homework assistance and life skills training for high school students.  Vice Chair Anne Marie Tristan applauds Ayuda’s elder care program, which works with frail elders needing assistance with home care, nutritional needs and budgeting.

Celebrating Ayuda’s 40 years of service is bringing together many strong leaders in Miami’s business and professional community.  The Host Committee still in formation includes Commissioner Sally Heyman, Silvia Coltrane, Steven Haas, Alan & Diane Lieberman, Margueritte Ramos and Sandor Scher.  The highlight of the evening will be a local celebrity fashion show sponsored by Macy’s that will include Commissioner John Elizabeth Aleman, Commissioner Kristen Rosen Gonzalez, Michael Gongora Esq., Ray Breslin, Jerry & Sari Libbin, Kalyn Chapman James, Dona Zemo, Bibi Andrade, Joseph Colon, Chantal Kahale, Peter Valori Esq., and Jolie Glassman to name a few.  George Neary, Director of Cultural Tourism for the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau with be Emcee for the evening.  Live entertainment will be provided by the Jazz Band and Fusion Dance Troupe from Miami Beach Senior High School as well as DJ Merari Motola. The program also includes a terrific live auction with fabulous staycation packages and other surprises.  Kendra Scott will have their gorgeous designer jewelry available as well. Tickets are $100.  Proceeds will help the Ayuda families who were victims of Hurricane Irma and support its educational programs for children, life skills training for teens, family counseling services and support services for the elderly.
