During the past Progressive Miami International Boat Show, Centerplate invited Miami Beach Senior High students from the JROTC and the MBSH Activities and Athletic Departments to work for them. In return, the students would earn needed monies for their projects at school. On Monday, March 17, General Manager of Centerplate Nick Tierno and his staff presented to the advisors of the organizations and the principal of the Miami Beach Senior High School two checks for their service.
The amount presented for the MBSH activities group was over $13, 000 and for the ROTC was over $5,000. The partnership was initiated to incorporate local students into the Miami Beach business community. The programs allow children to have real world experiences while earning community service hours. Centerplate generously gave this donation to support the school and its program and give back to the Miami Beach community.
The money will be earmarked to support different programs in Student Activities such as helping to reduce the costs for banquets, pay for graduation expenses, cover cost of transportation for field trips and buy necessary supplies. For the Athletics department, this money will help pay for the rental of facilities for the school’s water polo team, apparel for athletes, and athletic equipment.
