MIAMI BEACH WELCOMES NEWEST HOTSPOT: OFA

Progressive Brazilian Restaurant and Bar to Open July 2017 in Sunset Harbor

Adding to Miami Beach’s hip, ever-growing Sunset Harbor neighborhood is new Brazilian restaurant concept Ofa. Conceptualized, owned and operated by a powerhouse team of Brazilian hospitality and marketing pros — Felipe Ortiz, Carmen Rodriguez and Lucas Scudeler — Ofa will be the culinary destination of the season when it opens its doors

July 2017. Offering a menu of progressive Brazilian cuisine, rooted in tradition but very much representative of the vibrant country’s rich, contemporary gastronomy, Ofa will welcome diners and imbibers to savor innovative South American fare and gorgeous craft cocktails.

“Brazil is a huge country with varied regional customs and traditional dishes that go way beyond the Brazilian ‘steakhouse’ concept that many in the U.S. know,” says Rodriguez. “Ofa’s cuisine is inspired by the bold flavors and fresh ingredients found in those regional dishes.”

A soon-to-be announced Brazilian culinary talent will helm the kitchen and help fill a void in the Miami market with a unique, inventive menu that captivates creativity and Ofa’s innovative approach to Brazilian fare.

Ofa’s indoor/outdoor bar will offer revelers beautiful craft cocktails and delectable renditions of Caipirinhas, Brazil’s national cocktail. Using only high-quality imported Brazilian Cachaças for each Caipirinha ensures that all libations, no matter the riff, stay true to the classic. An extensive wine list, beer menu and chopp – a beloved Brazilian draft lager – will also be available. Sourced from Anheuser-Busch’s new Wynwood boutique brewery, Veza Sur Brewing Co., Ofa will be the first restaurant to carry the non-pasteurized drink that’s known for being served in a small glass, just below freezing with a three-inch layer of foam. For those who prefer non-alcoholic refreshments, a variety of freshly squeezed fruit juices will be made to order.

Immersing guests in a crafted culinary journey is the Chef’s Table. Seating six-to-eight people, this experience provides diners with chef selected appetizers to prepare the palate and a main course of 12-Hour Slow Cooked Beef Rib served with a tasting of Manioc Aligot and Farofa, the Brazilian specialty dish consisting of various flours and spices.

Designed by famed Brazilian architects, FGMF, the open and inviting 2,200 square-foot, indoor and outdoor, space will feature a bounty of greenery and natural elements that reflect modern Brazil. Adding to the outdoor oasis are couches, tables and an imported Brazilian tree that fill the lush dining patio and garden lounge. In collaboration with the FGMF team, designer Paulo Alves designed a furniture line exclusively for Ofa complete with tables, benches and chairs. Their exceptional chair design garnered the team international acclaim at ICFF, North America’s premier showcase for contemporary design as well as in Casa VOGUE Brasil. Brilliant design doesn’t stop there. Renowned Brazilian beachwear designer Lenny Niemeyer custom-made Ofa’s staff uniforms to reflect the restaurant’s elevated concept and forward style.

Ofa will open to the public July 2017 at 1929 Purdy Avenue on Miami Beach. Lunch and dinner will be served Tuesday through Sunday. Hours are lunch, noon – 3:30 PM and dinner 6:00 PM – 11:00 PM.
