Mount Sinai Medical Center welcomes Dr. Manuel Berzosa as its newest gastroenterologist. In his role at Mount Sinai, Dr. Berzosa will provide his expertise in the treatment of various gastrointestinal conditions such as GERD, ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease, irritable bowel syndrome, pancreatitis, liver disease, gastritis and more.
In addition to treating general gastrointestinal conditions, Dr. Berzosa also has a focus in GI oncology, providing treatment for esophageal, gastric, pancreatic, lung, and rectal cancer. He also specializes in the detection and management of Barrett’s esophagus – a serious complication of GERD – with the use of chromoendoscopy, an endoscopic technique that uses stains to speed up the detection of various pathologic processes. It can also be used in the evaluation of polyps in the colon, and to detect dysplasia in inflammatory bowel disease.
Dr. Berzosa completed his advanced endoscopy fellowship in 2014 at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. In 2013, he completed a gastroenterology fellowship at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Dr. Berzosa is board certified by the American Board of Gastroenterology and the American Board of Internal Medicine, as well as medical boards in Florida and Texas. He was the chief resident of the internal medicine program at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and an instructor of medicine at the University of Minnesota. He is fluent in both English and Spanish.
Dr. Berzosa will see patients at Mount Sinai Medical Center’s main campus located at 4300 Alton Road in Miami Beach.
