Refreshing Fall Snacks

The fall season brings a certain refreshing energy to the air. With back to school outfits, new notebooks, and an apple being added to practically everything, the autumn atmosphere of changing leaves and brisk evenings exists mostly where there are slightly less palm trees. While most of the country is coat shopping, we’re shopping for orange and red bikini’s and thinking of ways to stay cool. Just remember though, we’ll be shoveling sand laughing while most of the country shovels snow!

Anyway…try blending these autumn inspired smoothies at home to stay cool this fall and bring a little brisk right into your kitchen.

APPLE PIE SMOOTHIE
1 apple
1 cup unsweetened almond, rice, or coconut milk
1 teaspoon natural vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon Pinch of ginger,
nutmeg & sea salt
2 tablespoons ground flaxseed or chia seeds

KALE AND ORANGE CREAMSICLE
1 cup chopped kale
1 orange,
peeled 1/2 to 1 cup unsweetened coconut or almond milk
2 tablespoons ground flaxseed or chia seeds
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract A few drops of stevia (optional)

SPICED PUMPKIN SUPREME
3/4 cup puréed pumpkin
1 cup unsweetened coconut or almond milk
A few drops of stevia (optional)
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
2 tablespoons ground flaxseed or chia seeds
1/4 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
