Miami Gardens’ Public Works Department “Paves the Way” To a Better Miami Gardens

The Public Works Department is proud to announce the completion of its first roadway improvement project funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA)!

As part of this project the city has added over 5,500 feet of new sidewalks along the NW 199 Street and NW 191 Street corridors, between 27 and 47 Avenues including 1200 feet of new sidewalk in front of the City’s new community center.

In addition to the sidewalk improvements 104 new Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant ramps and connectors have been added as well. This project also included milling, repaving and restriping one mile of roadway, at NW 191 Street, between 27 and 37 Avenues. With these new improvements, the City of Miami Gardens has now become a more pedestrian- friendly city.

Although this new project was challenging and extensive record-keeping and monitoring was required under the federal guidelines, the Public Works staff worked effectively and diligently in completing this project for our residents.

The City of Miami Gardens Public Works Department will be managing more of these types of projects in the future: so watch for us as we “pave the way” to a better Miami Gardens!
