British Airways celebrates 50 years of serving MiamiIn June, British Airways celebrated 50 years of flying customers between Miami and London. The airline’s first flight to Miami was on June 1, 1964 on a BOAC operated Boeing 707.

On Mar. 31, 1985, British Airways expanded its presence in Florida to provide services from Orlando and Tampa, making Florida the first U.S. state to have British Airways flights leaving from three cities.

British Airways now offers its customers two daily flights from Miami to London served by Boeing 747 aircraft and British Airways’ joint business partner, American Airlines, also offers two flights from Miami to London every day.

“I am very proud of the services we provide from Miami and remain committed to serving this market,” said Simon Brooks, British Airways’ senior vice president of North American sales. “Our joint business partnership provides our customers with more choice of flights and more frequent flier benefits. We are excited to be celebrating the 50th anniversary of our service from Miami to London, and we look forward to having more Floridians traveling with us to London, the UK, and our worldwide destinations.”

Now offering customers four different travel classes, British Airways focuses on providing attentive service and a relaxing experience. All customers can enjoy extensive on-demand entertainment options through their own TV screen. In addition, all the meals, soft drinks, bar service and amenities are free.

Each suite features an individual seat that turns into a 6-foot, 6-inch fully flat bed, with a luxurious quilted mattress, crisp white cotton duvet, and pillow. Customers are offered a la carte dining throughout the entire flight.

British Airways’ Club World customers also experience a fully flat bed in a spacious environment optimized for working or relaxing. They can enjoy a wide selection of meal options and a help-yourself kitchen.

World Traveller Plus is British Airways premium economy class, a private cabin with seats featuring a 38-inch pitch, equipped with power supply for laptops and chargers, as well as an assortment of fine foods available from the Club World menu.

World Traveller, the full-service economy class, features seats with adjustable headrest, lumbar support and recline as well as blankets and pillows for a good night’s rest.
