Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade, a non-profit organization providing educational after-school and summer camp programs to more than 8,000 community youth, recently celebrated its ninth annual “Wild About Kids” gala.
The event, held at the Ritz Carlton Key Biscayne, featured a cocktail reception, fashion showcase debuting Venezuelan designer Angel Sanchez’s 2016 Spring collection, dinner, surprise performances by 2014 Latin Grammy Best New Artist Mariana Vega and Nickelodeon actress Elizabeth Elias, live entertainment by Juniors Entertainment, honoree awards and the Norwegian Cruise Lines-sponsored “Glow Party” post-event bash.
The “Wild About Kids” gala is the marquis annual event, hosted by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade, that raises funds in support of its local youth programs providing after-school and summer camp throughout the year.
This year’s event was chaired by community leaders Juan Jose Delgado and Gabriela Rachadell de Delgado and cochaired by Ralph and Elizabeth Patino. As first-time chairs, the couples were guided through the process by the clubs’ special event chair Olga Guilarte with responsibilities including putting together a strong gala committee, raising awareness about the clubs and securing high-level sponsors.
“We are humbled by the overwhelming support received and all those who have helped us reach this milestone,” Delgado said. “In its ninth year, you’d think we’d be emotionally prepared to take it all in, but the truth is the invaluable support we receive each and every year never ceases to amaze me.”
Alore Event Firm brought the evening to life with the theme “True Colors” which was chosen to represent the many nationalities that make up the children who attend Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade.
The night began with a cocktail reception that featured a silent auction and VIP look at globally renowned fashion designer Angel Sanchez’s 2016 Spring collection. With four models and 12 pieces, guests were treated to an exclusive look at the ladies formalwear designs.
Following the reception hour, a lavish dinner was served while local WSVN’s Today in Florida co-anchor Diana Diaz and co-emcee journalist and TV personality Ellie Rodriguez set the stage for the evening program. Some 500 guests including elected officials, celebrities and VIP’s enjoyed spectacular performances by Nickelodeon actress Elizabeth Elias, 2014 Latin Grammy Best New Artist Mariana Vega, and Boys & Girls Clubs Youth Dance Club.
A highlight of the evening was the recognition of community icons, Rodrigo Arboleda, Melissa Medina and Eris Thomas for their tireless efforts paving the way for the future of local youth.
After the gala ended, nearly 100 additional guests entered the Ritz Carlton Ballroom where music, lights and special effects quickly transformed the space into the signature Norwegian Cruise Line-sponsored Glow Party After-Party.
