Members of the Coral Reef Sharks, a team of 10-and-under tennis players who have trained at the Coral Reef Park Tennis Center, were presented with Certificates of Achievement by Palmetto Bay Mayor Shelley Stanczyk and the other council members on Oct. 7 during the regular council meeting at Village Hall.

Young players Franz Bagayas, Leonardo Bonanno, Natasha Opaciuch and Carly Stokes each received a certificate, as did their coaches, Kara Borromeo and Leroy Pettis. Team member Robert Acosta was unable to attend.

The team — Coral Reef Sharks — was at the Florida Junior Team Tennis Regional competition at Goodlet Park in Hialeah during August and finished first as undefeated champions. They also were undefeated during the regular season.

“I’m proud of them,” said Coach Borromeo. “I’m also proud of our older kids who just won two regional tournaments back to back in a two-week span in different age divisions.”

The Coral Reef Park Tennis Center offers lessons in the USTAteaching format for all age groups, from Mini Tennis (ages 3-7) to adults and seniors. For information call 305-253-8655.
