The New Neighbors Club of South Dade will conduct the election of officers for 2015-16 at its luncheon meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 11.
The club’s dedicated volunteers have the responsibility of all aspects of New Neighbors including programs, luncheons, newsletters and other special events held monthly. February also is when the group honors all past presidents.
New Neighbors Club (originally part of Welcome Wagon) started more than 50 years ago and it is through the efforts of dedicated volunteers that it remains a viable organization.
Following the luncheon, members and guests will enjoy the special talents of Lourdes Valentin. She is a one-woman cabaret show committed to bringing beauty and wholesomeness to music with original, contemporary and classic melodies. She sings in English, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese, and also is a songwriter who composes her music on guitar and piano. It is no secret as to why she continues to make her mark in the South Florida music scene.
Growing up in New York and Puerto Rico gave her an eclectic mix of musical awareness that inspired her to become the insatiable, talented artist she is today. Her music performances and vast vocal range, crosses over from Jazz, Blues, Swing, Classical, Broadway tunes, Latin to Modern Day Pop. She possesses a tone and technique that are sensual and heart-warming. Audiences fall in love with her, both as an incredibly talented artist whose stage presence can only be described as mesmerizing. She is the lead vocalist of her own band and has performed with the Greater Miami Symphonic Band.
