Palmer Trinity student earning international fame in kart racing

Palmer Trinity School student Juan Manuel Correa drove to a second place finish in the Rotax Junior event, qualifying him to compete in the World Finals taking place in Portugal this November.

During the weekend of Sept. 20-23 Palmer Trinity School student Juan Manuel Correa (Class of 2018) competed in the Rotax Pan American Championships, in Englewood, CO, and placed second in the Rotax Junior Division.

Racing for nearly six years — with a resume of accomplishments that includes a 2009 Ecuador National Championship, placing third in the National Championships in South Bend, IN, and qualifying for this November’s World Finals in Portugal as a middle school student — Correa already is an integral part of Jay Howard’s Team Motorsports Driver Development (Team MDD).

Developing a passion for karting at a young age, when he watched his first kart race with his dad — who raced rally cars — Correa believes racing is a part of who he is.

“I like it because it’s something different,” Correa said. “It has just become my sport.”
