The Temple Beth Am educational community has announced the establishment of the Dr. Irwin Perlmutter Academic Scholarship Fund.
A generous gift of $500,000 was donated by Eliza and Hugh Culverhouse to provide need-based scholarships to Temple Beth Am families, so that their children may have the opportunity to attend Temple Beth Am Day School.
“We are so happy that the Culverhouse Family has decided to gift Temple Beth Am students with this incredibly generous academic scholarship,” said Dr. Deborah R. Starr, head of school at Temple Beth Am Day School.
The scholarship was named in honor of Dr. Irwin Perlmutter, a renowned South Florida neurosurgeon and founding member of Temple Beth Am. A lifelong philanthropist known for his commitment to the religious community, Dr. Perlmutter was a great believer in the importance of education and the right of every student to have access the best academic programs available.
The Dr. Irwin Perlmutter Academic Scholarship is open to Temple Beth Am member children of all ages — from Early Childhood through fifth grade. The funding for the scholarship provides support for education, and grants even more worthy students with the opportunity to attend Temple Beth Am Day School.
“This is the largest academic scholarship of its kind offered at Temple Beth Am, and we sincerely hope as many families as possible apply for this incredible opportunity,” said executive director Bob Hersh.
