The annual Beaux Arts Festival of Art will launch its 63rd year on Saturday, Jan. 18, and continue through Sunday, Jan. 19, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Admission and parking are free.
City National Bank is the sponsor this year for Miami’s oldest juried fine arts show, which features art for many different budgets and tastes, children’s art, great food and entertainment for the entire family.
Widely recognized as one of the region’s most popular outdoor art exhibits, the Beaux Arts Festival attracts more than 230 exhibitors to the grounds of the Lowe Art Museum on the University of Miami campus.
“The festival is one of those things in South Florida that people have an emotional attachment to,” said event co-chair Grey Bryan. “They probably remember going there as a kid or as a student at UM. They remember going on a beautiful January morning to see beautiful art,”
“This is a South Florida tradition that people have attended at various points in their lives and people just love to go back again and again,” added co-chair Amy Steinhour. “There are entertainment options for both adults and youngsters, and families can enjoy live performances in the Main Stage tent on both days.”
Children’s entertainment includes free art activities such as drawing and painting for kids 4-12 years old in the Miami Children’s Hospital Art Park, while a numerous food and beverage options make this event ideal for art enthusiasts and families alike.
Also popular is the Student Artist Showcase featuring 150 pieces from Miami-Dade middle and high school students on display inside the Lowe throughout the weekend. Sponsors include CP+B, Neiman Marcus and Joanna’s Marketplace.
Since the first Beaux Arts Festival of Art took place in 1952, the event has been entirely organized and run by volunteers. Proceeds from the festival benefit the organization’s arts programs for children, as well as the Lowe, which will be open to the public all weekend.
In addition to presenting sponsor City National Bank, others include Mercedes- Benz of Coral Gables and Cutler Bay, Miami Children’s Hospital, Friend of Festival Sponsors AON, Miami-Dade County and the University of Miami.
