Columbus student Cesar Santalo earns Mayor’s Unstoppable Scholar Award

cesar-santalo-mayor-award_16Christopher Columbus High School student Cesar Santalo (Class of 2016) recently received the Mayor’s Unstoppable Scholar Award, which recognizes a student who has displayed extraordinary perseverance in moving his academic career.

Santalo was honored by Mayor Carlos Gimenez (Class of 1972) and members of the Miami-Dade Commission on Jan. 20. Santalo is president of the National Art Society and founder of the the Young Explorers of Art Club at Columbus. He currently is working on launching the nonprofit organization “Art for Others.”

He also is a Campus Ministry Leader and a member of the Squires Service Club and the Cangrejos Against Cancer Club at Columbus. Cesar is a nominee for this year’s Silver Knight Award in the category of Art.
