Figurella USA, the unique body reshaping center from Italy, recently celebrated its second anniversary in Coral Gables and opened a new location in Pinecrest. For the anniversary festivities a cocktail reception at Segundo Muelle Restaurant inside the landmark Hotel St. Michel provided a beautiful setting. In attendance were Coral Gables Chamber President Mark Trowbridge, who presented a special proclamation; Chamber members; and Figurella clients, many of whom shared testimonials.
Immediately becoming involved with the community, Figurella proudly launched a clothes drive with Florida Breast Cancer Foundation. The drive served to raise funds and awareness during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.
With the new location recently opened in Pinecrest at Town Center Mall, Figurella has more than 500 locations globally and in excess of 30 years of experience. The Junior Orange Bowl events are blanketing the county with cultural arts and athletic events. The JOBC’s annual Cross Country Meet co-chaired by Maggie and Rusty Hill was held at Larry & Penny Thompson Park on October 8. More than 2,500 runners who came from more than 70 schools competed in 10 Middle School and High School races. The team from Belen Jesuit won the Boys Invitational and Varsity Open races as Ferguson HS finished second in both. In the girls’ division, Ferguson took home first place in the Girls Invitational, and Lourdes finished first in the Varsity Open race.
After the JOBC Parade on Nov. 29, hundreds of volunteers prepared for a host of other events. JOBC Sports Ability Co- Chairs Rich Naue and Kate Swain with an incredibly dedicated committee are in last minute preparations for the games as teams start arriving December 2 for this three day competition that includes sailing at Shake- A-Leg, swimming at Ransom Everglades Aquatic Center and Track and Field at Tropical Park. Finally, a host of South Florida charities benefited from Give Miami Day on November 19th. Kudos to all who made a gift. The Miami Foundation was matching a portion of the funds collected providing a great way for generous donors to leverage their gifts to various favorite charities. Coincidentally, dozens of charities were honored on Give Miami Day at the Switchboard of Miami’s 4th Annual All- Star Awards Non Profit Luncheon at Jungle Island. The event, chaired by board member Alex Ramos had as its title sponsor Katz Barron Squitero Faust, represented on stage by Erica English, a partner in the firm, joined by guest emcee Local 10’s Emmy Award Winning Newscaster Calvin Hughes. This is always a win-win for everyone involved.
