On the charity front, The Tooth Healer Foundation Family Fun Day at Pinecrest Gardens was held on November 12 with dozens of young volunteers on hand to help raise funds for this organization that helps fund dental clinics for those in need globally. Among the recipients of this foundation’s support is the Coral Gables Children’s Dental Clinic which is owned and operated by the Coral Gables Woman’s Club and provides more than $220,000 in free dental care annually to Miami Dade County children of the working poor. Several club members as well as member of their Men’s Auxiliary were on hand to help volunteering and handing out free popcorn and information on the clinic. Among the many volunteers were Yvonne Elejalde, Ruth Martinez, Ralph and David Rivera, Janet Osgood, Nancy DesMangles and Brett, Kim Davvison, and Valerie Valenzuela, Chiara Migani.

On November 10, Bulla Gastrobar and Pisco y Nazca raised awareness and funds for Global Water Brigades, an international, non-profit organization constructing clean water systems in Nicaragua, Honduras and Ghana. The restaurants showed their support with a social media campaign, blue ribbons worn by servers at all restaurants, and by serving delicious bites at the 6th Annual Water Party MIA held at the Douglas Entrance in Coral Gables.

The goal of the event was to raise $12,500 to benefit the community of Potwabin, Ghana, the home to 67 families in need of clean water supply. With more than 200 guests, who also indulged in drinks courtesy of Estrella Beer, Jack Daniels, Brugal Rum, Russian Standard Vodka, Punch Miami & El Patio Wynwood, the fundraising goal was reached. All monies collected during the event will directly benefit Global Water Brigades Ghana. The funds collected via Water Party MIA 2016 will provide the community with access to clean water via a piped water system in the very near future.

Until next time, keep making each day count.
