Learn and grow at all ages and stages with the Alper JCC

It is officially spring, and as we watch the sun set a bit later and wake up in the morning to darker skies, we all strive to keep the ball of our lives rolling in the right direction. The Alper JCC offers many opportunities to help you do just that. Enhance your health and wellness, expand your learning and education, and enjoy literature and the arts, all while maintaining a connection to your community. The “J” provides fun and thought provoking programming for children and adults of all ages.

This week the J is having a wonderful event to wrap up the epilogue of the annual Berrin family Book Festival. One of the country’s most recognizable journalists from 60 minutes, Lesley Stahl, explains how becoming a grandmother transforms a woman’s life. Stahl will be discussing her New York Times best selling book, Becoming Grandma – in conversation with Miami Herald columnist Ana Veciana-Suarez on Tuesday, April 18th at 7:30 p.m. After four decades as a reporter, Lesley Stahl’s most transformative experience of her life was not covering the White House or interviewing heads of state at 60 Minutes. It was becoming a grandmother. Using her 60 Minutes skills, Stahl, interviews friends like Whoopi Goldberg, colleagues like Diane Sawyer (and grandfathers, including Tom Brokaw), as well as the proverbial woman next door. Come by the J for this insightful presentation, book signing and dessert reception in the Russell Theater. This special event is open to the public. Get an autographed copy of Becoming Grandma is just in time for Mother’s Day gift giving! Tickets can be purchased at alperjcc.org or by calling 305-271-9000 extension 268. $36 preferred seating, $20 General Admission in advance, $25 at the door (all tickets include paperback book).
