Lexus IS F SPORT has widely flared wheel arches, a strong horizontal beltline and a low center of gravity.

The 2014 Lexus IS 350 F SPORT is an amazing piece of automotive machinery; if you really like to drive a car, the F SPORT will blow your socks off! The IS is available in rear- and all-weather- drive versions of both the IS 250 and IS 350 — along with the F SPORT — and the 300h, the first IS to have the Lexus Hybrid Drive system. IS 250 models are powered by a 2.5 liter V-6 gas engine, while IS 350 models come with a 3.5 liter V-6 gas engine.

The IS 300h uses a hybrid powertrain based on a new 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle engine. IS models also have the Drive Mode Select system that has up to four driving modes — ECO, NORMAL, SPORT and SPORT S+ (S+ is available only on the F SPORT) — that allow a driver to choose a preferred combination of fuel economy, comfort, performance and handling characteristics.

But, the F SPORT is the one that got my attention. It looks like the other IS models with its spindle grille and bold, sleek styling, but it has those extra capabilities that deliver an exceptional driving experience. Every aspect of the IS F SPORT has been engineered with a focus on performance, agile handling, accurate response and highly communicative feedback through state-of-the-art onboard technologies.

You easily can recognize an IS F SPORT from the other models by its exclusive exterior and interior design features, along with the genuine dynamic enhancements. Both the front and rear suspension systems and the Electric Power Steering (EPS) are exclusively tuned for F SPORT to enhance handling performance. An Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) system is also tuned for F SPORT models, along with Variable Gear Ratio Steering (VGRS).

The IS design is dynamic and emphasizes the wide flare of the wheel arches to give the car a broad and powerful look. In profile, the strong horizontal beltline shows off the large rear tires and its low center of gravity. The spindle grille of the F SPORT incorporates a bolder insert design, while the bottom corners of the front bumpers have aerodynamic detailing that also enhance brake cooling. There’s also a new headlight cluster design with the Lexus Lshaped Daytime Running Lights (DRL) positioned independently below. Unique 18-inch wheels have a Y-spoke design inspired by the LFA Lexus sports car.

The new IS wheelbase is almost three inches longer, yielding a more comfortable cabin and more trunk space. Interior trim includes an F SPORT steering wheel and shift knob, and aluminum pedals and scuff plates with the Lexus logo.

The 2014 Lexus IS 350 F SPORT starts at about $44,000.
