It was announced last week that 13 students at Miami Palmetto Senior High are National Merit Semifinalists. This is more semifinalists than any other local high school, public or private, except for Ransom Everglades.

Over 1.5 million high school juniors take the PSAT in the fall of their 11th grade year. National Merit Semifinalists had scores that placed them in the top 1 percent of the nation. Each of these brilliant Palmetto Senior High Panthers will now have the opportunity to compete next spring for one of 7,400 National Merit Scholarships worth a total of over $32,000,000. Nine of the 13 are proud graduates of Palmetto Middle School.
