More than 4,000 turn out for 12th annual Taste of Pinecrest

More than 4,000 people turned out April 6 for the 12th annual Taste Of Pinecrest at beautiful Pinecrest Gardens.

The Pinecrest Business Association hosted the community event that featured tasty foods from local restaurants and caterers. From BBQ to pasta, sandwiches to salads, appetizers to deserts and all goodies in between, the day provided vast opportunities to enjoy the local cuisine. For true food lovers, there were even cooking demonstrations and tastings at the culinary corner.

This year, the Taste of Pinecrest’s title sponsor was the Law Offices of Panter, Panter & Sampedro, a long time supporter of TOP. Additional major sponsors included Lexus of Kendall, the Village of Pinecrest, Miami-Dadeland-Pinecrest Rotary Club, Miami Children’s Hospital, Stretch Zone, Monica Betancourt Group of EWM, The Parenting Plan, CVS-Kendall & US 1, Williamson Cadillac, Baptist Health, Morris & Reynolds Insurance, Dade Paper, Jackson South Community Hospital, Intellaclaim Adjusters and Trump National Doral Golf Club. Elite Cycling provided individual bike valet parking.

The theme of TOP was No Place For Hate! — an anti-bullying program created by the Anti-Defamation League. Each of the five area schools gave their theme-oriented performances. Mayor Cindy Lerner presented awards to each of the performing groups. Howard Drive, Palmetto and Pinecrest Elementaries, Palmetto Middle and Palmetto High schools entertained the crowd with songs, dancing, a jump rope squad and musical performances. In addition, people were treated to a fabulous live performance from the band Cutler Stew.

The sun-drenched day was filled with a host of fun family activities, including family interactive yoga demonstrations presented by Corpo Yoga Studio and hands-on art activities presented by ArtSouth. Free bounce houses, face painting and tattoos kept kids of all ages engaged. Along with all the planned activities, the Gardens was open for all to enjoy, including the petting zoo, playground and splash pool.

More than 40 local businesses from the PBA were showcased at this year’s Taste of Pinecrest and the event provided an opportunity for the community to engage with local businesses, enjoy local foods and celebrate being a part of the Village of Pinecrest.
