Music and comedy on tap for Neighborhood Nights Cabaret Series

The South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center will present local artists during the summer for evenings dubbed Neighborhood Nights as part of the Center’s Cabaret Series. The intention of Neighborhood Nights is to highlight the artistic excellence of local artists, some established and others at the very beginning of their careers.

The SM-DCAC will present two shows as part of the series. On Friday, July 10, at 8:30 p.m., the Just the Funny improv comedy troupe will perform. Then, on Saturday, July 11, at 8:30 p.m. Jim Camacho and His Band will take the stage.

Just the Funny is a Miami favorite improv and sketch comedy company, and a fivetime winner of the New Times Best of Miami poll. The company’s The Big Show is often called the show where Whose Line is it Anyway meets Saturday Night Live, featuring sketches, music and improvisational comedy based on audience suggestions.

Jim Camacho has a sound similar to the likes of Ed Sheeran, Elvis Costello and Ryan Adams, and has enjoyed a long and successful history in the music business. Co-founder of the 1990s South Florida band The Goods, Camacho has toured career with many national acts, including Alicia Keys and John Legend. As a solo artist, Camacho’s songwriting and performances continue to generate critical acclaim and he will celebrate the release of his latest single Please Come Home and the debut of his band at the SM-DCAC Neighborhood Nights.

Tickets for Just the Funny are $20, and tickets for Camacho’s performance are $25 in advance and $30 the day of show. Purchase tickets online at SMDCAC.org or by calling 786-573-5300.
