Berkowitz Development Group Inc. has announced the signing of a new long-term lease with PetSmart for 14,252 square feet at Dadeland Station, a 330,000 leasable square foot retail shopping center located at 8312 S. Dixie Hwy. in Kendall.
The new PetSmart store, which will include an on-site, full-service Banfield Pet Hospital, is slated to open during the fourth quarter of 2014.
This location for PetSmart serves as a strategic entry into the area spanning from Coral Gables to Pinecrest, which boasts tremendous demographics surrounding the pioneering vertical shopping center.
Michael Berkowitz, president of Berkowitz Realty Group, commented on behalf of the Dadeland Station ownership.
“Current tenants at Dadeland Station have had a long history of tremendous sales per square foot, which indicates vibrancy within the Dadeland/Pinecrest retail market, and specifically within the plaza itself,” Berkowitz said. “Joining notable tenants such as Target, Michael’s, Bed Bath & Beyond, The Sport’s Authority and Best Buy, PetSmart is a complementary addition to Dadeland Station’s current tenancy mix.”
The pet industry is booming with 2014 consumer expenditures estimated at $58.51 billion and approximately 70 percent of households in South Florida claiming pet ownership.
“We are delighted to continue serving the South Florida community with our moment-making products, services and experiences,” said Steve Bayton, director of real estate for PetSmart.
Located on US1 (S. Dixie Highway) just east of the Dadeland Mall and north of Kendall Drive (SW 88th Street), Dadeland Station is a three-level retail shopping center with an attached six-level 1,045-space parking garage. Retailers enjoy the high street visibility, diverse tenant mix, and the busy traffic provided by the surrounding amenities and high population of the area.
