Pinecrest Preparatoy Middle-High Charter School, (PPMH) located at 14902 SW 42 Street, Miami, FL hosted several Miami Marlins players and staff during Marlins Play Ball Week on February 18, 2016. The Marlins Play Ball week is the team’s annual celebration of community engagement experience.
Play Ball Week is an MLB initiative aimed to encourage more participation among students in South Florida.
Participating 6th grade students got to meet pitchers #46 Kyle Barraclough, #55 Nefi Ogando and #66 Jarlin Garcia. The Marlins players signed autographs throughout the event and they made the event very enjoyable by playing kickball and giving “hitting lessons” in the batting cages, all while the disc jockey played music and kept the atmosphere entertaining. The players graciously took pictures with all the students and the staff at the school. One of the students, Mackenzie Kairalla, made sure to participate in all the events and said, “I’m so glad I get good grades and was invited to this special event. Hard work pays off!”
Principal Maria Beatriz Nuñez said, “PPMH is a huge supporter and fan of the Miami Marlins and we can’t wait for the season to start! Go Marlins!”
