In other Pinecrest related news, several former members of St. Louis Catholic Church’s Youth Ministry gathered for a reunion of sorts on the occasion of Cindy Mendizabal Gonzalez 40 th birthday. In fact, Cindy and husband Andrew actually met through the youth group decades ago. They now have two great children and are very active with Paws4You. Held at the beautiful Hammock Oaks home of Dr. Rolando and Kathy Mendizabal, Cindy’s party guests enjoyed visiting old friends and family while also taking advantage of several gaming tables for fun play. It was a perfectly beautiful South Florida evening that extended the fun to the patio waterfront pool area. Among the many friends attending the affair were Eric Driggs,Christina Burns, Rey Redlich; Alex Figuerola, Vince Houghton, Miguel Lau, Suzy Sanchez-Galarraga, Cristian Zinn and current Youth Minister at St. Louis Catholic Church, Mark Witkowski, to mention a few.

In the spirit of this giving season, members of the GFWC Coral Gables Woman’s Club, several of whom are residents of Pinecrest, gathered for a Thanksgiving pot luck feast followed by the annual preparation of food baskets, 40 in all, for the families of the Club’s free dental clinic. While one group of women worked on that project, another group tackled the donations of toiletries, making 75 gift bags for women that were delivered by Club President Mayra Dominguez to Agape Family Ministries. For those unfamiliar with Agape, it is one of the first non-denominational and nonsectarian faith based substance abuse, mental health residential treatment facilities and community health centers in South Florida. This is one of many ongoing outreach projects this dedicated group of women does annually. For more information on the club and its free children’s dental clinic, visit www.coral-gableswomansclub.org.

All of South Florida is encouraged to join firefighters, youth groups, emergency response team members and other non profits to participate and help Nick Silverio, organization founder, to save the lives of babies.
