The South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center and Miami Lyric Opera will present Rigoletto on Aug. 15 at 8 p.m. and Aug. 16 at 4 p.m.
Miami Lyric Opera masterfully performs the classic work that defined Italian opera, Giuseppe Verdi’s Rigoletto at the South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center. Famous for mocking the husbands of the women the Duke has seduced, a deformed court jester Rigoletto finds himself in the same ill-fated predicament. When Rigoletto own daughter, whom he kept hidden, falls victim, he vows to have revenge. But repaying evil with evil goes horribly wrong, and Rigoletto learns that he has reaped what he has sown.
The performance takes place in four acts and is performed in Italian with English supertitles. The cast includes Nelson Martinez, Gina Galati, Jorge Pita Carreras, Emilia Acon, Diego Baner. Also performing are the MLO Orchestra and chorus; chorus master Pablo Hernandez, conductor Doris Lang Kosloff; and director Raffaele Cardone.
