Rock ‘n Run for breast, ovarian cancer fight set for Oct. 12

Temple Beth Am has several events planned to draw attention to Breast and Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.

First, Beth Am is erecting a pink-and teal healing Sukkah of Peace in celebration of sukkot. The Sukkah is available to meditate, to pray, to stretch, to sit and to decorate with prayers of love and healing. During the week, the award winning film NED, The Movie will be shown on Oct. 7.

The week will culminate with the second annual Rock ‘n Run Think Pink Feel Teal 5k, scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 12. As a sponsor, Beth Am will donate its facility for the event.

The not-for-profit was created by breast and ovarian cancer survivors to unite our community in the fight against breast and ovarian cancer, and raise awareness to enhance prevention and early detection.

In last year’s first-ever 5k Rock ‘n Run event, the community rallied for this cause and raised more than $40,000 for breast and ovarian cancer causes involved in research, awareness and support for women in our community. This year, Rock ‘n Run will support the same recipient charities: University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center-Cancer Link, Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, Women’s Breast Health Initiative, Sandy B. Muller Breast Cancer Foundation, Sharsheret and FORCE.

This special day of health, strength and spirit again will feature a challenging and fun 5k Orange Theory Fitness Run/Walk, a rockin’ cardio-blasting dance class with Videosync’s legendary Jay Marcos and a breakfast buffet.
