The local Howard Palmetto Baseball and Softball season is fast approaching. Generations of South Florida youngsters have played in the Howard Palmetto leagues and many more parents and relatives have coached and officiated.

You can register your child for the Howard Palmetto Baseball and Softball season by going online to www.howardpalmetto.com.

• T-Ball Division is for Pre-K and K; players are placed on a team or you can bring your own group from school or pre-school. T-Ball teams can be all boys, all girls or co-ed; teams play one game a week during the weekend.

• Coach Pitch Division is for grades K- 2 and plays two games a week; one on a weeknight and one during the weekend.

• Kid Pitch Division is for grades 3-9 and plays two games a week; one on a weeknight, one during the weekend.

• High School Division is a wood-bat league for grades 10-12; plays one game a week on weekends.

Girls Softball plays at Palmetto Bay Park, while T-Ball and most Boys Baseball Divisions play at Suniland Park and Greer (Pinecrest) Park.

The older Boys Divisions (Midget, Juvenile and High School) usually play at Chapman Field, but with Chapman closed for clean up, alternative arrangements have been made. Midgets will play on a renovated field at Greer Park. The infield is 50×70 feet, with a proper elevated clay mound.

The Juvenile and High School divisions will play at area high schools, including the Palmetto High field at Coral Reef Park.

For more than 50 years, the volunteers at Howard Palmetto — a local not-for profit baseball and softball league — have been dedicated to competition and fun. If your child is headed for the Major Leagues or just wants to get out and play, Howard Palmetto is the place for them to develop their game and their sportsmanship, while making new friends in the community.
