Pinecrest Florida is a progressive town about thirty miles south of Miami. With weekly town events for
people of all ages, the community has developed a tight knit sense of family. Through March and April
alone, residents can enjoy Mozart Under the Moonlight at the Banyan Bowl Pinecrest Gardens, The
Orchid Tea Room, and Plants and People: An Interactive Garden, both at the botanical gardens. In the
warm southern climate, citizens may enjoy outdoor events year round under a cool evening sky.
March 26th brings a special one-time event, Jazz at Pinecrest Gardens. The Steven Guerra Big Band will
play a free of charge show for guests at the Banyan Bowl. Guests are seated on a first come first serve
basis with food and drinks sold at the venue. The Jazz series brings in a variety of guests several times a
month, from Kathy Brown to Rose Max and the Brazilian Singer. Admission is always free. These
concerts are a wonderful event for people of all ages with plenty of room for young ones to run about
and a great atmosphere for anyone to relax.
Special events like the Interactive Garden; featured in the Pinecrest News, have special arrangements
for a specific population. The interactive garden is made for first and second stage Alzheimer’s patients
and their caregivers. Admission to this event is free as well and includes lunch and a beverage for all in
attendance. It is aimed at being a memorable atmosphere for the caregiver and his or her patient.
Other events such as the Plant Show and Sale on April 17th at the Botanical Garden are especially
arranged for garden lovers. On the 17th there will be special teachings on Bromeliads, how to grow
them and use them to add color to any garden. There is an admission fee of $25 for adults and $18 for
seniors. Children under the age of five are free.
Between the Banyan and the Botanical Gardens, there are plenty of spring and summer events for
people of every hobby at any age. Many events are free of charge with a focus on learning and
community. In Pinecrest, the welcoming family environment is just a wonderful part of daily life.
