A 19th century Swiss Mermod Freres music box plays delicate melodies and proudly displays its original program. A turn of the century phonograph by none other than Thomas Alva Edison sits atop a carved console table with its hand-painted morning glory horn.
The proprietor of Upscale Furniture Consignment Gallery is Rita Schwartz and she is as unique as her extraordinary gallery. She not only holds down the fort at 8845 SW 132nd St., behind the Falls Shopping Center, she has also been appointed sponsorship chair for the inaugural Pinecrest Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society.
And if that isn’t enough to keep Schwartz busy, in her spare time she works with Paws4You and helps rescue abandoned or homeless dogs. Schwartz is an advocate for life and believes that every dog should have a loving home. She also regularly solicits funds for the pet rescue charities and helps plan benefit events such as the recent Pawtini Pawty business social networking event at the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables.
The inventory at Upscale Furniture Consignment Gallery is constantly changing, with new pieces arriving daily and others leaving just as quickly. The gallery is open Monday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
