Village officers honored for saving woman’s lifePinecrest Police officers Sgt. Michael Gorsline and Rafael Ferrer received the Officer of the Quarter award for outstanding achievement and distinguished service after saving a woman’s life last November.

After responding to a routine call, Gorsline and Ferrer worked diligently on the unconscious woman to save her life. Because the woman was not breathing, they used an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to revive her. They immediately applied the AED and started CPR protocol. They continued to work to save the woman until Miami- Dade Fire Rescue responders arrived at the house.

They reassessed the woman and found that she had an active pulse and was breathing. She was rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment.

In receiving the award, officers Gorsline and Ferrer were commended for “professionalism and steadfast dedication to their duties in keeping with the highest standards of the police department and of professional law enforcement.”
