Diageo Learning for Life recently received the Beacon Award for Education among other industry and community leaders at the 12th annual Beacon Awards at the Ritz Carlton Key Biscayne.

“Learning for Life was designed to transform the lives of people in the markets in which we operate. It is a privilege to receive this recognition of the program’s contribution to the South Florida community,” said Janelle Prieto, head of Learning for Life. “We couldn’t have come this far without our incredible partnership with the Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management at Florida International University.”

Since partnering with the Chaplin School of Hospitality in 2012, Learning of Life has focused on teaching customer service skills and issuing relevant certifications, such as bartender, restaurant server, food handler, banquet setup and guest services. This skills-based adult education program offers eight free weeks of skills and job readiness training, plus a two-week internship component.

Learning for Life is part of Diageo’s global community reinvestment program that has touched the lives of over 95,000 individuals and currently operates in more than 30 countries.
